a space born out of their mother ship ‘HEDKANDI’ + the desire shared from their guests wanting more.  BUTTER Beauty Parlour checks Calgarian’s beauty boxes from head to toe + their locations have become some of the city’s most inspiring spaces to get beautified.  

co-founders WRAY + JEREME BOKITCH looked at this refresh as a great opportunity to take a beat with their team + check in with the form, function + inclusiveness of the current space.  to re-assess the needs of  their guests + elevate the experience for EVERY human, from the moment you step foot in the space.  4ever inspired by this duo’s leadership + ability to lean into + lead with a creative, COMMUNITY-centric approach that leaves no human behind.

refreshing an existing, very well designed space was certainly an exciting challenge + honoring those OG design details were top-of-creative-mind as we dug in.  it was important for us to work with the color palette the BUTTER babes have grown to love + utilize the allocated budget to not only AMP up the space, but provide storage + functional solutions to support their g r o w i n g vision.  a new [non-crackling – IYKYK] floor + a paint refresh were our biggest surfaces to tackle, followed by the layering in of some WILD papers, [hand-screened in Brooklyn NY] to bring a glamorous edge.

the reception desk was re-purposed – utilizing the existing ZEBRANO stone + we brought some fresh functionality + bold luxury via the add of some naval brass reveals.  additional storage, a rework of the wall paneling + the addition of some new embossed vintage brass hardware has left this foyer space feeling SEXY + inviting.

while we did add in some new furniture pieces + cool custom trolleys,  we were able to re-purpose quite a few of their existing pieces + gave them new life with a coat of lacquer, fresh foam + some RAD new vinyl finishes.  using embossed animal prints + metallics juxtaposed with classic cane frames we maintained the bold quirk we all know + love from the BUTTER spaces.

with a goal of inclusivity + accessibility leading this mission, we were able to make small adjustments to the footprint of the space without any major construction costs.  adding a pedi-station at the ground level [to avoid the climb into the existing stations] + an accessibility button at the front to ensure that everyBODY can enjoy the experience of BUTTER.
